Just In Time! Draftkings MLB plays for May 10, 2022

A very mixed bag yesterday as Rodon was fantastic, but Woodruff let us down. Harper was fantastic, but Betts let us down. Julio hit value, Wendle didn’t. All of that added up to a big ol’ loss yesterday even though there were some good plays mixed in. We have a nice twelve game slate today which is always fun so let’s take a look.

Top batter of the day – Manny Machado $5700

Machado has been unbelievable to open the season and hasn’t been bagel’d in nineteen games. He is also stealing bases again and is already up to six on the season to go along with his seven home runs. He finds himself in a fantastic lefty vs right matchup at home against Wade Miley and should be in a spot to produce big.

Batter 2 – Nolan Arenado $5600

Top pitcher of the day – Justin Verlander $10400

Verlander hasn’t lost a step in his return in 2022 pitching to a 1.93 ERA and .073 WHIP over his first five starts. He has seen s a slight dip in his K/9, but that is more due to one start than anything. I expect that number to return to its normal rate over his next few outings. The matchup against Minnesota is a decent one as they strikeout a fair amount as a team and Verlander has the stuff to make them pay. He should be the top owned pitcher on the slate today.

Pitcher 2 – Lucas Giolito $9700

Value play of the day – Julio Rodriguez $3300

Excuse me Mr. Number Three Hitter! That’s right, we saw J-Rod batting in the three hole the other day which should drastically increase his value. Get him while you can at this price because it isn’t going to last for long. He has scored 10+ DK points in four straight and we have yet to see his full power. He has really impressed with his legs however which should continue against Aaron Nola and the Phillies. I typically don’t like picking on one of the better pitchers, but this price is too good to pass up.

Value 2 – Bobby Witt Jr. $3400

All right, all ready we’ll all Rodon! Draftkings MLB plays for May 9, 2022

Back at it again after a few days off posting. I have played the past two days, but let’s not talk about that. It’s not like I finished close to last in all my contests. Nothing like that (Shhhhh). We’ve got a two game slate early followed by a nice nine gamer tonight. I’m going to focus all of the plays on the late slate today as the small slates have just been brutal for me this yea. Ready. To. Roll!!!

Top batter of the day – Mookie Betts $5800

After a relatively slow start to the season Betts has turned it around over the past two weeks and the Dodgers as a whole have started to click. Batting leadoff for one of the greatest lineups every assembled has it’s perks and Betts is taking advantage of that with thirteen runs in his last twelve games. I honestly would not be surprised to see him keep up his run per game pace for the remainder of the season. He gets a phenomenal matchup against Jose Quintana and the Pirates and this feels like a game where the Dodgers drop double digits.

Batter 2 – Bryce Harper $5900

Top pitcher of the day – Carlos Rodon $10000 vs COL

I had a tough time deciding between Rodon or Woodruff for the top play today and I ended up going with the guy who is playing at home in Rodon. He is coming off his worst start of the season (6 IP 2 ER) and to be honest that feels like his floor at the moment. The strikeout upside against a horrific Rockies team is too much to pass up and Rodon should be in all cash and tournament lineups.

Pitcher 2 – Brandon Woodruff $9300 @ CIN

Value play of the day – Julio Rodriguez $3400

Julio, Julio, Julio. If they keep dropping his price like this he is going to become my next Bobby Witt must play. With 10 DK points in three straight games and a power/speed combination that is comparable to the guys in the 5K range I’m going to continue playing Rodriguez even if he is batting in the bottom third of the order. The ceiling is just too high.

You’re done? No, Yordan! Draftkings MLB plays for May 5, 2022

A decent day yesterday and Freddy got the win that I guaranteed, but good lord was Judge a letdown. He was just one strikeout away from the golden sombrero, but he managed to mix in a walk. Honestly, I would have preferred the 0-4 with 4K’s game because at least that is funny. Giolito struck out the world, but struggled with the long ball and our value wasn’t great. Honestly, that was as mediocre of a day as mediocre gets. With a nice two game early slate and the main slate starting at 640 let’s get ready to roll.

Top batter of the day – Yordan Alvarez $5100

Alvarez has been on a bit of a heater lately with home runs in four of his last six games and he draws a nice matchup today against Tyler Skubal and the Tigers. What I love about this play is that it’s a lefty on lefty matchup so it should help keep his ownership low. Skubal has been a bit worse than his numbers suggest and I expect Alvarez to be put in a position to drive in multiple runs today with a powerful lineup in front of him.

Batter 2 – Alex Bregman $4900

Top pitcher of the day – Shane McClanahan $9700

What a shocker. My favorite pitcher of the day also happens to be the most expensive pitcher on the slate. McClanahan has earned that, however by being the most consistent starter in the Rays rotation and driving his price way up with each start. Expect him to settle in around this price for the remainder of the year. He is coming off an 11 strikeout start where he threw his most pitches of the season and he should continue to earn a longer leash as the season progresses. With his strikeout upside and the ability to get to six or seven innings I think he is an absolute lock tonight.

Pitcher 2 – Shohei Ohtani $8000

Value play of the day – Andrew McCutchen $3800

This is a little expensive for a value play, but there isn’t a ton of room to operate on the early slate. McCutchen gets a nice matchup against a pitcher with an ERA of 6.00 this season and who has been struggling with his command (8 BB in his last two starts). The Brewers have been starting to round into form offensively and a large part of that has been McCutchen in the cleanup spot. He is coming off a huge 4-5 game where he scored 28 DK points without a home run and he is in a prime spot to do it again today.

Value 2 – Trey Mancini $3000

God dang it Bobby! Draftkings MLB plays for May 4, 2022

Back in the win column! Bobby did it! Juan did it! Joe…sort of sucked, but Woodruff did it! It feels good to finally have a lineup comfortably cash again. I’m thinking about posting some lineup breakdowns so stay tuned for those in the future. As for today we have two decent slates at 1240 and 7 so there should be plenty of plays to choose from. Let’s get into it.

Top batter of the day – Aaron Judge $5900
I mean it kind of had to be Judge today, right? He has been the hottest hitter in baseball over the past two weeks and his price has skyrocketed because of it. With double digit points in 6/10 games and 8+ in his last eight games he has been as safe as they come which is the opposite of what is expected from the big power hitter. The matchup today against Yusei Kikuchi is a good one as he has struggled the past few years, especially to right-handed bats. Judge should be in play in all formats and well worth the expensive price tag.

Batter 2 – Paul Goldschmidt $5500
Bonus: Juan Soto $5000

Top pitcher of the day – Freddy Peralta $8900
Peralta is starting to get his price bumped back up again after back to back solid starts and he draws a fantastic matchup against the dreadful Reds today. After giving up 1ER and striking out 13 over his last 11 innings pitched Peralta should be firmly on everybody’s radar. Not only that, but he threw a season high 92 pitches in his last start which bodes well for his ability to go deep into games. The one area where he has struggled this year is run support as he has yet to pick up his first win. That will happen today (I GUARANTEE IT) so make sure he is in all of your lineups!

Pitcher 2 – Lucas Giolito $9500
Bonus: Justin Verlander $10100

Value play of the day – Ketel Marte $3700
I really struggled to find value that I like today and while he may be a bit expensive as a value play I really like the spot Marte is in today. He has had a horrific start to the season, but appears to be turning it around recently as he is riding a four game hitting streak and double digit fantasy points in three straight. As the number two hitter in a visitors ballpark he is also looking at the opportunity for a five at bat game which is HUGE as at bats mean everything in DFS baseball. I view them the same way I do minutes in basketball. Anyway, Marte is a nice price and could pay it off in a big way.

I will be the Victor! Draftkings MLB plays for May 3, 2022

Another rough day yesterday. After running through mid April on a big hot streak I have cooled off considerably in the past week. That’s pretty standard though and practicing good bankroll management should allow me to pass through this rough patch without hurting too bad. The good news is I absolutely love some plays tonight and have a feeling a big game is coming. Let’s see what we’ve got!

Top batter of the day – Juan Soto $4800

This price feels like an absolute joke. Under 5K for Soto in Coors?!?!? I know German Marquez is the “Ace” of the Rockies staff, but you could throw 2015 Kershaw out there and I think you would still have to play Soto at this price. He hasn’t gotten off to the hottest start this season which is definitely contributing to his low price, however it’s only been twenty games! You can’t forget his entire career of production after that. The Nats lineup has been surprisingly good and Soto hasn’t even begun to heat up. This might be the easiest play of the year for me.

Batter 2 – Byron Buxton $5500

Top pitcher of the day – Joe Ryan $9500

Ryan has been one of the Twins pleasant surprises to open the 2022 season and it appears he is emerging as the true ace of their staff. He also appears to be fully stretched out with an increasing pitch count in every start and throwing 90 in his last. Averaging over a strikeout an inning and facing off against a weak Baltimore team should have Ryan in the running for top score of the night.

Pitcher 2 – Brandon Woodruff $8900

Value play of the day – Bobby Witt Jr. $2900

Sometimes I just need to go back to my guys. Witt has been moved down in the order after a rough start to the season, but seems to be turning things around as he is currently riding a ten game hit streak. The Royals as a whole have struggled and I can see Witt moving back up in the lineup in the next few games. We have yet to see the power and his speed has been solid so I can see him providing value multiple ways. Dakota Hudson is an OK matchup and he may see a few RBI opportunities if the rest of the Royals lineup can heat up a bit. This pick is just due to hit, right??

Don’t Judge me! Draftkings MLB plays for May 2, 2022

Not too many games today as we are looking at a six game slate for the main one today. No weather concerns and a few plays I really like should hopefully make this a solid night. I’m going to start adding an additional play in each tier, but no descriptions for now. Time to crush!

Top batter of the day – Carlos Correa $4600

Correa has been heating up with multi hit efforts in his past four games and he gets a fantastic matchup against Tyler Wells and his 5.54 ERA. The Twins have been a solid offensive team to open the season and Correa has been right there in the heart of the order. Wells offers little to no strikeout upside and Correa should find plenty of opportunities to get one base, drive in runs, and maybe even launch a dinger. I love him at this price.

Batter 2 – Aaron Judge $5800

Top pitcher of the day – Pablo Lopez $10000

Lopez has been a pleasant surprise this season as he currently has an ERA of 0.39 and a WHIP of 0.73. Obviously that isn’t sustainable, but his underlying numbers suggest that he will still be a top pitcher this season. He won’t blow teams away with strikeouts, however he is far from an absolute zero in the category. With a fantastic matchup against one of the worst teams in the league and wins in three straight games look for him to keep the streak going tonight.

SP2 – Drew Rasmussen $8300

Value play of the day – Julio Rodriguez $3700

He finally did it! Rodriguez launched the first home run of his major league career last night and oh boy is was a beauty. He draws an OK matchup today against Jake Odorizzi and I’m hoping he starts to move his way up in the order a bit. Even if he doesn’t, we can count on him to contribute through both power and speed as he currently leads the majors with nine stolen bases. This is a little expensive for a value play, but there really aren’t many others I like today.

It’s My Turn(er)! Draftkings MLB plays for April 29, 2022

Well, the pitchers absolutely crushed and it was a bit of a slow day for the batters, but I still found my way into the cash. Joe Ryan was pretty low owned and had the best game of his career which carried me hard. A late Judge home run solidified my spot in the cash. It doesn’t seem like there are too many bad weather spots today and it’s a nice full slate so let’s get to it.

Top batter of the day – Trea Turner $5300

The Dodgers in general have not had as strong of a start as many expected, but that’s no fault of Turner. He has been a model of consistency, especially in the DFS format. With hits in 13 of his last 15  games and not a single game with 0 points he has been a godsend in cash game. Not only that, but it feels that he has yet to hit his true ceiling. The matchup against Tyler Alexander is a good one for LA and Turner should be right in the middle of it batting in the three spot.

Top pitcher of the day – Nestor Cortes $10000

Even I am shocked that I’m playing Cortes, let alone paying 10K for him! He has made himself almost a must play after striking out 20 batters over his last 11.1 innings and he draws a fantastic matchup against a weak Royals lineup today. The Yankees have also let him throw more pitches with each start (he’s up to 91) and he has only walked three batters in 15.2 innings. Lock Cortes in both cash and tournament lineups.

Value play of the day – Austin Hayes $2900

Hayes has quietly been the best hitter in the Orioles lineup this season. Admittedly it’s not a very tough feat, but he has worked his way up in the lineup nonetheless. Currently acting as the cleanup hitter It is going to be tough to find another guy in such a prime spot at a price as cheap as this. Rich Hill has had a rough start to the season as his K% is down, walk% is up, and he has yet to reach five innings in a start. Look for Hayes to get on base a few times and knock in a few runs tonight.

I’ve Lost My Witts! Draftkings MLB plays for April 28th, 2022

The Angels were good to us last night as Trout and Ohtani both had solid games with Ohtani picking up the win and Trour picking up multiple extra base hits. Gallo also homered and allowed us to comfortably cash all of our cash games. We bubble boy’d the tournaments, but that’s OK. Can’t win ‘em all. We have an interesting set of games today that are spread throughout the day so I’m trying to get this out early. I’ll be playing every slate, but dear lord I just need to remember to fade the Showdowns. Those things are a money pit.

Top batter of the day – Bryce Harper $6100

Harper hasn’t been playing the field due to an elbow injury and he initially put a scare in fantasy owners who thought he may miss some time. However, since the announcement he has been rounding into form at the plate with multi-hit games in three of his last six and 15+ DK points in his last three. He is also stealing bases which further increases his value. The matchup against Senzatela is as good as it gets and if there is one big bat to pay up for today it is Harper.

Bonus: Jazz Chisolm Jr. $5400

Top pitcher of the day – Freddy Peralta $7700

I had to do a double take when I saw this price. Of course, he has had a rough start to the season, but all the underlying metrics say he should be closer to what we saw in 2021 vs his first three starts this year. He gets a fantastic matchup against a Pirates team in the bottom third of the league in runs scored and should have no problem shutting them down. He is also being stretched out quite a bit as he threw 89 pitches in his last start. There is absolutely no reason to fade Peralta today and I project him to be among the top two highest owned SP’s.

Bonus SP2: Zach Wheeler $8300

Value play of the day – Bobby Witt Jr. $3100

Oh dear I’m going back to him. They have even raised his price and he has a somewhat difficult matchup against Kopech, but I don’t care. He’s riding a six game hitting streak and while he may still be searching for his first Major League home run he has shown he can provide value elsewhere (R, RBI, SB). He has been moved around in the lineup a bit and I’ll love him even more if he makes his way back into the top four. For now, he’s a solid play anywhere.

Angels Are Watching Over Me! Draftkings MLB plays for April 27, 2022

A bit of a rough day yesterday. Things were actually going really well in the early games and then every team decided to score a ton of runs which bumped the scores way up. Buxton was a let down and Rodon was good, but not great. Those games aren’t too bad though when players are crazy high owned like he was. The Dodgers were my biggest let down as a loaded up on them and they proceeded to score zero runs in the 2nd-9th innings after putting up a 3 spot in the first. No biggie though. Can’t get caught up on the plays of yesterday. Onto today!

Top batter of the day – Mike Trout $6100

Uhhhh yeaaaa he’s baaaacckkkkkkk. The best player in the past decade has been scorching hot since his injury scare and that isn’t stopping anytime soon. With double digit points in 6 of his last 9 games (nice) and no score lower than five he is one of the safest plays on the board. Zach Plesac is a solid pitcher who doesn’t make many mistakes, but Trout is the kind of batter who can capitalize on his low strikeout ratio and tendency to give up hard contact. He’s the best player in the world and absolutely locked in right now. Fade at your own risk.

Top pitcher of the day – Shohei Ohtani $9000

It’s just an Angels kind of day. Ohtani can’t be played as a batter on Draftkings today however that won’t stop me from firing him out there as a pitcher. With one of the highest strikeout rates in the game he is always a safe play due to his high floor. I’ve been picking on the Indians  Guardians a lot as they tend to strike out at a high rate as a team and Ohtani is coming off of a 12K performance. They are finally raising his price which is a shame; still he is a lock for me.

Bonus Play: Joe Ryan $9600

Value play of the day – Joey Gallo $3300

To dinger or not to dinger, that is the question. That is always the question with Gallo who finally launched his first homer of the season last night after an absolutely dreadful start. That has dropped his price into the almost laughable tier and I’m all for it. When looking for value in tournaments I’m always chasing home runs and Gallo is in a prime spot to hit a pair tonight. That’s right I’m calling a double ding dong game for Joey the Ding Dong Man. Just trust me.
