God dang it Bobby! Draftkings MLB plays for May 4, 2022

Back in the win column! Bobby did it! Juan did it! Joe…sort of sucked, but Woodruff did it! It feels good to finally have a lineup comfortably cash again. I’m thinking about posting some lineup breakdowns so stay tuned for those in the future. As for today we have two decent slates at 1240 and 7 so there should be plenty of plays to choose from. Let’s get into it.

Top batter of the day – Aaron Judge $5900
I mean it kind of had to be Judge today, right? He has been the hottest hitter in baseball over the past two weeks and his price has skyrocketed because of it. With double digit points in 6/10 games and 8+ in his last eight games he has been as safe as they come which is the opposite of what is expected from the big power hitter. The matchup today against Yusei Kikuchi is a good one as he has struggled the past few years, especially to right-handed bats. Judge should be in play in all formats and well worth the expensive price tag.

Batter 2 – Paul Goldschmidt $5500
Bonus: Juan Soto $5000

Top pitcher of the day – Freddy Peralta $8900
Peralta is starting to get his price bumped back up again after back to back solid starts and he draws a fantastic matchup against the dreadful Reds today. After giving up 1ER and striking out 13 over his last 11 innings pitched Peralta should be firmly on everybody’s radar. Not only that, but he threw a season high 92 pitches in his last start which bodes well for his ability to go deep into games. The one area where he has struggled this year is run support as he has yet to pick up his first win. That will happen today (I GUARANTEE IT) so make sure he is in all of your lineups!

Pitcher 2 – Lucas Giolito $9500
Bonus: Justin Verlander $10100

Value play of the day – Ketel Marte $3700
I really struggled to find value that I like today and while he may be a bit expensive as a value play I really like the spot Marte is in today. He has had a horrific start to the season, but appears to be turning it around recently as he is riding a four game hitting streak and double digit fantasy points in three straight. As the number two hitter in a visitors ballpark he is also looking at the opportunity for a five at bat game which is HUGE as at bats mean everything in DFS baseball. I view them the same way I do minutes in basketball. Anyway, Marte is a nice price and could pay it off in a big way.

Value 2 – Bobby Witt Jr. $3100

I’ve Lost My Witts! Draftkings MLB plays for April 28th, 2022

The Angels were good to us last night as Trout and Ohtani both had solid games with Ohtani picking up the win and Trour picking up multiple extra base hits. Gallo also homered and allowed us to comfortably cash all of our cash games. We bubble boy’d the tournaments, but that’s OK. Can’t win ‘em all. We have an interesting set of games today that are spread throughout the day so I’m trying to get this out early. I’ll be playing every slate, but dear lord I just need to remember to fade the Showdowns. Those things are a money pit.

Top batter of the day – Bryce Harper $6100

Harper hasn’t been playing the field due to an elbow injury and he initially put a scare in fantasy owners who thought he may miss some time. However, since the announcement he has been rounding into form at the plate with multi-hit games in three of his last six and 15+ DK points in his last three. He is also stealing bases which further increases his value. The matchup against Senzatela is as good as it gets and if there is one big bat to pay up for today it is Harper.

Bonus: Jazz Chisolm Jr. $5400

Top pitcher of the day – Freddy Peralta $7700

I had to do a double take when I saw this price. Of course, he has had a rough start to the season, but all the underlying metrics say he should be closer to what we saw in 2021 vs his first three starts this year. He gets a fantastic matchup against a Pirates team in the bottom third of the league in runs scored and should have no problem shutting them down. He is also being stretched out quite a bit as he threw 89 pitches in his last start. There is absolutely no reason to fade Peralta today and I project him to be among the top two highest owned SP’s.

Bonus SP2: Zach Wheeler $8300

Value play of the day – Bobby Witt Jr. $3100

Oh dear I’m going back to him. They have even raised his price and he has a somewhat difficult matchup against Kopech, but I don’t care. He’s riding a six game hitting streak and while he may still be searching for his first Major League home run he has shown he can provide value elsewhere (R, RBI, SB). He has been moved around in the lineup a bit and I’ll love him even more if he makes his way back into the top four. For now, he’s a solid play anywhere.

Seiya It Ain’t So! Draftkings MLB plays for April 20, 2022

Well, yesterday was a good day. My best day of the year to be exact. Coors paid off and Cron launched a three run bomb which basically locked in a high cash for each of my lineups. We have another Coors game again tonight so I have no problem going right back to those boys. They are way too cheap right now and are always in play. We have some interesting plays today and I’m thinking of a few teams to load up on. My potential stacks will probably end up in three separate lineups with a few one offs mixed in.

Top batter of the day – Seiya Suzuki $5800

Nope, it’s not Ichiro. It’s Ichiro with more power. Suzuki has been unbelievable in his first two weeks in the bigs with an average over .400, 4 HR’s, and a staggering OPS of 1.478. He is finally being moved up in the Cubs order, as he batted second yesterday, which will only give him more opportunities to produce. He is quickly becoming a guy who is playable regardless of the matchup. The good news is he picks up a nice matchup today against Drew Rasmussen and the Rays. His price is getting a bit high and I think he may become a 6K player in the next few days. Get him under 6 while you still can.

Top pitcher of the day – Chris Bassitt $9600

I don’t love the matchup against SF and it’s going to be tough to pick up the win against Rodon, but this guy is just so good. He may be the most underrated SP in baseball since his 2019 breakout. His mediocre strikeout rate seems to scare most guys off, but he quietly improved that rate last year and seems to be keeping it up to begin 2022. With Bassitt we aren’t chasing K’s, but we know we can get 5-7 quality innings and that is more than enough for me in cash games.

Value play of the day – Gary Sanchez $2800

Sanchez has been getting consistent playing time at both Catcher and DH and while he may not be batting high in the order right now he is still capable of putting up a big game. He gets a nice matchup today against a lefty who has struggled so far in his career with a 6.04 ERA over 16 starts. Sanchez is a sucker for the strikeout, but Lynch isn’t a high K guy and that could leave some openings for Gary. If you’re looking to save some money on catchers and aren’t stacking the Twins I love Sanchez as a one off.

Bonus: I’m not going to say it, but I’ll say it. Bobby Witt Jr anybody? Only $2700. Run it back.

Bo Knows! Draftkings MLB plays for April 16, 2022

A really nice day yesterday! Rodon and Trout crushed while Witt let us down, but at $2400 that isn’t a lineup killer. Obviously the day that I play a little bit less is the day my lineups do really well. We have tons of early games today and not many aces going so it’s going to be tough to predict pitchers. I’m still looking for guys who have been stretched out a bit and have the ability to go at least five innings. Let’s roll!

Top batter of the day – Bo Bichette $5000

Bichette has gotten off to a bit of a slow start to begin the 2022 season but finds himself in the perfect spot to right the ship against a pitcher with a career ERA of 5.44. Don’t be fooled by his first start of the season because Paul Blackburn is not a pitcher that should be faded in DFS contests. He has a low K% and betters crush the ball off of him with a hard hit % over 40! I think the case could be made for any hitter in this Blue Jays lineup today, but Bichette’s early season struggles allow him to be played at a nice discount. (As opposed to his usual 5.5K+ price tag)

Top pitcher of the day – Carlos Carrasco $7900

It wasn’t long ago that Carrasco was thought of as a top 10 pitcher in the MLB and finished fourth in the Cy Young voting. Coming off of a few rough years, rightfully so, Carrasco looked like his old self in his first start of the season as he mowed down the Nationals at home. He gets another great matchup in his second start of the season against a weak Diamondbacks team. He threw 79 pitches in his first outing so he should go a little deeper into the game today and with solid strikeout upside I think he is a must play at this price.

Value play of the day – Spencer Torkelson $2900

He’s heating up! One of the best prospects in baseball didn’t have the best start to the season, but he’s now his home runs in two of the last three games and is making a case for the Tigers to start moving him up in the order. He has consistently batted in the 7 or 8 hole throughout the beginning of the season which has capped some of his RBI and Run potential. With a nice matchup today against a guy who can at best be described as an average pitcher I can see Torkelson keeping his home run streak alive.

Bonus: Yes, Bobby Witt is still locked in at $2700. Don’t ask.

Draftkings MLB Plays for April 13, 2022

It looks like a lot of rain today so remember to check the weather before locking in lineups! Looking back at yesterday we didn’t get a home run out of our value play and our batter of the day went out and gave us a goose egg. That’s a little disappointing after riding a small two day win streak. No need to start to overthink now though. Keep trusting the numbers. Keep trusting the numbers. We’re due!

Top batter of the day – Matt Olson $5300

It feels like Olson was the only Braves hitter who didn’t get in on the onslaught yesterday as the Braves dropped sixteen runs on the Nationals. The insane part is that he still dropped double digit fantasy points as he picked up a hit and walked three times. It really felt like the Nats just didn’t want to pitch to him. They’re going to have to pitch to him today and I have a feeling it’s going to be a bad idea. He has gotten off to a hot start with his new team and Josiah Gray isn’t going to be the one to stop him. Lock him in now because in a few weeks you’re going to have to pay 6K+ for him!

Top pitcher of the day – Corbin Burnes $9600

The strikeouts weren’t there for Burnes on opening day as he was burned by control issues and an unfortunate home run. The positive of that outing though were that he made it through five innings and should be stretched out a little further today against a truly terrible Orioles lineup. We may be looking at the second 10K game of the season (Kyle Gibson who!?!?!) today and for under 10K I will always lock in Burnes.

Value play of the day – Bobby Witt Jr $3000

Well, they’re finally starting to raise his price a little bit. He was being locked into all of my lineups while he was sub 2.5K. I can’t really complain at this price even though he has a tough matchup against Wainwright. As long as he’s batting second and continuing to see regular at bats there is no reason he should be this cheap. The Royals lineup is better than most people think and Witt is one of the main reasons why. Batting around guys like Whit Merrifield and Salvador Perez should help keep his RBI and Run totals up while he is also a threat on the basepaths. I love this kid.
